Nike Air Trainer Swift - Size W9 (1999)

this absolute chimaera of a silhouette hit retail shelves right around the turn of the millennium as a lightweight, flexible mixed-surface cross trainer with an air presto-esque base layer.

i don't feel like i can call these a true a takedown version of the alpha project-branded AXT2, but their shared mid/outsole tooling is so unique amongst other cross trainers of the era that i felt it should be highlighted. their medial sides have a standard herringbone tread pattern for improved traction on smooth surfaces at the ball & heel, while their lateral sides sport a waffle iron tread pattern that's better suited for running applications, plus a sticky rubber bumper to help prevent their wearer's feet from rolling outward during quick lateral movements.

like many entry level and mid-tier silhouettes from this era, this model was never reissued again after its initial release. quite rare & appropriately summer-y.
