Nike Air Trainer Escape - Size W9.5 (2001)

ranking in at my 3rd favorite silhouette from the presto lineup, these were a popular choice amongst gym goers & dancers in the early-oughts for their increased heel support and torsional rigidity in comparison to the original air presto without sacrificing much in terms of upper flexibility. in order to compensate for its considerably thicker uppers, this model ditches its wings & laces for a stretchy rubber webbing similar to those used on the cult classic air kukini.

interestingly enough, this model came in regular numeric sizes instead of the universal alpha sizes that prestos were normally associated with, which may explain why they don't bear their name anywhere except for small badges on the uppers; deadstock examples will wash up sporadically on auction sites primarily due to the fact that these didn't perform the best at retail, often ending up deeply discounted or left to collect dust in stock rooms. this colorway i've personally never seen before, and is fairly muted & simple in comparison to the some of the more detailed graphics used on other textile-based pairs, but in this case i feel like less is more here; nothing points to this model ever being reissued going forward

- 9/10 condition: fully intact with some notable discoloration in the fabric around the toe cap of the left shoe & the near the topline of the right one, mild oxidation throughout the plastic components, slight midsole separation near the heels, but no signs of tread wear on the outsoles; in good deadstock vintage condition for being 22 years old - very likely wearable, but ideal for collection or display purposes as-is
